2001 Letters from the Chairman
|
Genuine
Intimacy - December, 2001
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 "Two are better than
one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls
down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and
has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they
will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may
be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands
is not quickly broken."...

Your
Public Library - November,
2001
Around CHEACT, we have been talking a lot about
the Support Network available to central Texas homeschoolers.
If you have been reading this column over the past few months,
you will know that our focus this year was on reorganizing our
operations to allow us to focus on our key relationships. Much
of that work is underway, so it is time to begin planning our
next steps. ...

War
- October, 2001
As I put pen to paper, the attack on the World
Trade Center and Pentagon buildings is just a few days old. The
nation is very much reeling with a full range of primal emotion.
This is not the kind of thing that you could shield your children
from, even if you wanted to. The images are everywhere. On T.V.
In the newspaper. Our church, like many, is sponsoring times of
corporate prayer over the entire situation. At a recent pot-luck
that we held for CHEACT Board members and their families, it was
the unavoidable top topic of conversation… and seems destined
to be for the coming weeks and months to come. ...

Happiness
or Holiness? -
September, 2001
All around us the signs of school are
starting to show. As I write this letter, the neighborhood kids
are already starting to head out for the bus at dawn, and this past
week was the final week for the town swimming pool. By the time
you read this, your own school will likely be in full swing too
(though not at the crack of dawn!) ...

Preserving
Liberty - August, 2001
It's official. I have now passed my
one-year CHEACT Board service mark. If you've been reading these
letters this year, you know that much has changed in CHEACT, and
in many ways, we have just begun. Our regional support group role
is still in its infancy. However, in the important things, nothing
has changed. A certain timelessness surrounds everything that we
do. Changes underway in CHEACT will better support the timeless
biblical standard for our families in a world that is increasingly
hostile towards us. ...

Finger
on the Pulse -
June/July, 2001
For most of our membership, the school
year will be over by the time this newsletter hits your mailbox.
If your family is anything like mine, your kids are out running
barefoot and leaving the door open so the whole neighborhood can
benefit from your air conditioning (again). While you get back from
closing it, and sit down with that tall glass of lemonade, I'd like
to give you an update on what CHEACT is doing over the summer. ...

A
New Approach -
May, 2001
Last month I talked about the direction
CHEACT is heading, and about our mission statement: "To safeguard,
promote and encourage home schooling for the Glory of God in central
Texas families by assuming a regional leadership role in partnership
with local, regional, state and national ministries, businesses
and governments." ...

Schooling for the Glory of God! -
April, 2001
CHEACT is entering into an exciting season, so I will spend my
inaugural letter bringing you up to date. I am amazed at the momentum
that has developed so far this year. At the end of last year,
we started asking "Where are we headed next year?" Simple question.
Hard answer. ...
