MANY THANKS

August 2004

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's 17th Annual CHEACT Home School Educator's Conference and Book Fair. The enormity of this task, and the value it provides to our community is a sight to behold. We had an attendance of over 1500 people, and more booths, vendors and workshops than last year. As you can expect, plans are already well under way for next year, when we host Dean and Karen Andreola as our keynote speakers.

No event of this magnitude would be possible without our volunteers. Particularly, I would like to thank Teddie Austin, who had to step in early on to begin putting plans in place. Besides providing overall leadership, Teddie was the day-in and day-out administrative engine for the conference, making sure all the details were worked out. At the conference, she never rested, managing the registration tables and coordinating the roster of volunteers taking their shifts. Thank you, Teddie!

Yvonne Johnson deserves special mention as well… Yvonne was responsible for managing our relationship with Palmer, and making sure that booths were set up correctly with any special features that exhibitors may have ordered, and an eleventh hour deal with a taping company. If you loved the festive tri-colored booth drapes, you can thank Yvonne! Yvonne also championed the notion of having conference sponsors to this year's conference - a CHEACT First! But most importantly, it is difficult to think of having the conference without her energy and enthusiasm. Thanks, Yvonne!

My own wife, Noël Adams handled all of the seminar speaker bookings. If you were as challenged and as encouraged by the Bluedorns as I was, you can thank Noël. She was also responsible for coordinating and scheduling the 40 other workshops that were available to conference attendees. We had a great lineup of speakers, meeting a great many needs of our attendees. Thank you, Noël!

Finally, my thanks go to the myriad of volunteers who come and go for their two-hour time slots each year. The one overall positive comment we consistently get from our exhibitors is how much help they get from our volunteers during setup and tear down, as well as during the conference itself. Thank you!

As I already said, plans are well under way for next year's conference. We plan to offer even more resources to help you home school for the glory of God. If you missed the conference, or would like to share what you learned with others, please visit our web site (www.cheact.org) to order tapes from each seminar.

Yours,
Brett Adams
Chairman, CHEACT
